Smash and Grab Robberies on the Rise
California authorities are reporting a dramatic increase in ‘robbery mob’ activities in the San Francisco Bay area… with additional crimes being reported state-wide. In these activities high-end stores carrying expensive electronics, clothing and accessories are targeted by robbery gangs in brazen smash-and-grab heists. The crimes are often committed by 14-18 year old perpetrators who strike quickly and overwhelm the store staff with violence and by moving quickly to steal thousands of dollars in merchandise in minutes.
The problem is this is a trend that is expected to spread. According to the former Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey these ‘flash-mob’ thefts will soon impact cities across the spectrum.
“This is something now that I really unfortunately think is going to spread,” Ramsey said. “Right now it’s in California, but it will spread, there’s no question about it.”
“I don’t know what’s driving all this, but it is of concern and it will continue,” he added. “It is not going to stop any time soon.” Here is a link to the Daily Wire article with more info.
